Atlantic City Expressway (NJ 446)

The fastest route between Atlantic City and Philadelphia by car. Interestingly, the mileposts ascend westbound and descend eastbound. I guess this is to match NJ 42, but also because to show drivers from Philadelphia how much closer they're getting to Atlantic City with each interchange they pass.

Exit 7 is where the Atlantic City Expressway junctions the Garden State Parkway. And what is with cramming so much information into a tiny sign?

I find it odd that Exit 9 has tolls on all four ramps. Especially the eastbound exit ramp and westbound exit ramp. Meanwhile, motorists can exit the Atlantic City Expressway for free at Exit 12 (EB only) or at Exit 7 (both EB and WB). They can also enter the Atlantic City Expressway for free at Exit 7 or at Exit 12 (to WB only)

Old (top) vs. new (bottom) signs at the EB Exit 14 ramp.

The US highway shield is fixed in the new sign, while the old one as off (too wide). But the county route shield looks off in the new sign. And directional banners should be in all uppercase.

How much are you cramming into this sign?

The sign at the gore of the Exit 14 ramp.

The Egg Harbor Toll Plaza.

The Farley Service Plaza is the main service plaza for the Atlantic City Expressway.

Newer signs for Exit 28, westbound.

Older, nonstandard signage for Exit 28, EB.

New signage for Exit 31, WB.

An LGS for Exit 31, WB. Small, crammed, and nonstandard.
