CR 526 Spur is the Allentown Bypass, serving as a partial bypass of said town and most importantly, a connector and truck route for traffic on CR 526 heading to I-195, CR 539 NB, or CR 524. It's short, but it gets trucks out of a town center that they would get stuck in.
Additionally, some sources label CR 526 Spur as CR 526 Alternate. While CR 526 Spur does not connect to CR 526 on both ends, this bypass route is effectively an alternate route (just like another bypass of Allentown, CR 539 Alternate).
CR 526 Spur meets CR 526.

Notice how this road is used to allow CR 526 truck traffic to follow CR 526 or reach CR 539 southbound (via CR 539 Alternate).

The north end of CR 526 Spur at CR 524. Per 2016 master plans for Monmouth and Mercer Counties, there is a plan to extend the Allentown Bypass (CR 526 Spur) northwestward into Mercer County to junction CR 526 a second time, most likely near or at where CR 526 junctions I-195 (I-195 Exit 7).
