CR 559 Alternate

CR 559 Alternate uses Ocean Heights Avenue to provide a more northerly and straighter route to CR 585 than the mainline of CR 559. Additionally, CR 559 has (or had?) multiple weight-restricted bridges that CR 559 Alternate bypasses.

The southern terminus of CR 559 Alternate at CR 585.

Shouldn't the Garden State Parkway have an arrow, especially because US 9 provides access (via Laurel Drive) to both directions of the Garden State Parkway? And the Parkway is clearly a different destination than Cape May.

Southbound. Why is this missing a directional shield?

Also southbound. And the correct position is SOUTH ALT 559, not ALT SOUTH 559. This is the southbound direction of CR 559 Alternate, not (necessarily) an alternate to CR 559 southbound.

At a junction with CR 559. This is a banner with ALTERNATE spelled out, something being phased out in many newer New Jersey signs.
