CR 579

CR 579 follows older roads between Trenton and Bloomsbury. At least part of CR 579 used to be the Trenton-Easton Turnpike, which was never an official turnpike, but was a historic corridor. Also, CR 579 enters Warren County, but its length there is so short; you blink, and you miss it. There are also no Warren CR 579 shields, see why when you read this.

Mercer County:

CR 579 begins at NJ 29. And begins it does... with an egregious sign error. CR 579 is not east-west, and more importantly, CR 579 runs northwest-southeast. So, CR 579 NB is never truly eastbound.

Luckily, the text for the incorrect EAST CR 579 reassurance at this junction has faded into illegibility.

Here's one of the many reasons why CR 579 is not recommended for trucks: low clearances.

CR 579 provides access to the Trenton-Mercer Airport.

CR 579 meets I-295. Interestingly, instead of just a JCT I-295 sign on one pole, Mercer County (or NJDOT) uses this highway-style LGS!

Mercer County, what is with horrendously ugly CR shields?

Ugliness at Jacob's Creek. There used to be a historic bridge here, but that was replaced.

CR 579 junctions CR 546 at Bear Tavern.

CR 579 in Harbourton, but there is no harbor here!

CR 579 junctions CR 518.

Hunterdon County:

CR 579 passes through hills, and you know you've entered Hunterdon County when you see CR shields atop mileposts.

CR 579 junctions NJ 31 in Linvale, then overlaps NJ 31 up to Ringoes.

CR 579 leaves NJ 31 to enter Ringoes, and NO. A route cannot junction itself. CR 579 only junctions NJ 179.

CR 579 junctions (and has a short concurrency with) NJ 179 in Ringoes at a skewed intersection. And no. NJ 31 does not pass through Ringoes anymore. NJ 31 uses the US 202 bypass around Ringoes.

Also, what happened to the SOUTH banner over NJ 31? But I digress. That sign should be SOUTH CR 579 TO SOUTH NJ 31.

CR 579 comes to a junction with CR 523, then shares a short wrong-way overlap with CR 523.

CR 579 junctions NJ 12.

CR 579 in Quakertown.

CR 579 junctions with and overlaps CR 513 in Pittstown.

CR 579 has steep upgrades and downgrades on the way to Bloomsbury. Another reason why trucks are banned from stretches of CR 579. It's a scenic ride, though.

CR 579 enters Bloomsbury on a one-lane, weight-restricted bridge over the Lehigh Valley Railroad.

CR 579 in Bloomsbury.

An old street sign in Bloomsbury along CR 579.

CR 579 crosses a historic truss bridge across the Musconetcong River to Warren County and then reaches its northern terminus at NJ 173. You can see just how short CR 579 is in Warren County, it's even signed as a Hunterdon CR from NJ 173 because the Warren County length is basically negligible!

Warren County:

CR 579 enters Warren County, and after 200 feet of length, immediately ends at NJ 173. With the exception of the Welcome to Warren County sign in blue, you wouldn't even be able to tell this is Warren County, as there are no Warren CR 579 shields.
