Shore Road is the first public road in Atlantic County, dating back to 1731. CR 585 is the southernmost segment of Shore Road, with the historic corridor becoming NJ 157 and US 9. While there were some name changes (and CR 585 has one, too!), the corridor is mostly intact. CR 585 also used to extend into Cape May County but has since been deleted in that county. And this is the highest numbered 500-series county route in New Jersey. Or until at least CR 586 exists, or at most CR 599.
No. CR 585 no longer exists in Cape May County. It hasn't for a long time. This sign, just like all of CR 585, is in ATLANTIC County.
CR 585 in the historic district of Somers Point.
CR 585 intersects CR 563 and CR 662 at a five-way intersection in Northfield.
In Pleasantville, CR 585 is Main Street.
What is this egregious sign error. No excuse for this one, Atlantic County. This is CR 585, not CR 686. CR 686 has never intersected CR 585. And CR 686 runs east-west, so it would be perpendicular to, not parallel to CR 585.
