DC 295

DC 295 is the northern continuation of the Anacostia Freeway, connecting I-295 to the Maryland state line. This is also the only district route in DC, the equivalent to a state route.

This was once planned as part of a northern extension I-295 before I-295 was realigned to cross the Anacostia River at the 11th Street Bridge. Now, neither route does that, and I-695 crosses the river.

DC 295 begins at I-695.

What is with trying to cram information in that sign?

At Eastern Avenue, DC 295 crosses into Maryland and becomes... MD 201. Contrary to popular belief, MD 295 doesn't begin until a half mile later at the US 50 junction, although the effective through route is DC 295 transitioning into MD 295 and 201 is the exit.
