Detroit

Outside Downtown:

The towering skyscrapers of downtown Detroit. This approach is Grand River Avenue (M-5), former US 16.

Midtown Detroit:

Looking towards the ornate Masonic Temple. Really shows the rich past of the city, while the decaying buildings around it show the tragic conditions of much of today's city. Parts of Detroit have had a revival, though, and long-abandoned historic buildings are seeing new life.

A preserved historic church along Woodward Avenue in Detroit. And right behind it, Ford Field and Comerica Park downtown. Downtown has had a bit of a comeback in credit to historic preservation and building modern amenities.

In Midtown is Little Caesars Arena, the Pizza Palace. And the District. It's a nice new arena and there is some development under construction, but it's still taking time.

The Ambassador Bridge, a major connector between the US and Canada.

Downtown Detroit:

Now entering downtown. Along the Detroit RiverWalk at the most iconic building of the city, the GM Rennaissance Center.

Informational signs and statues at the western foot of the RenCen.

More of the riverfront.

Across the river is Windsor, Ontario.

The centerpiece of Hart Plaza, the Horace E. Dodge Fountain.

Now getting on the Woodward Avenue corridor, the main street of Detroit. Here is Campus Martius Park located in the heart of downtown Detroit.

Grand Circus Park.

Had a snack featuring two Michigan classics. Vernor's and a slice of Detroit-style pizza. Yum!

The eastern end of Michigan Avenue.

Washington Boulevard in Downtown Detroit.

The main auditorium of the Fillmore / State Theatre in Detroit.
