Former CR 577 Spur

Another former 500-series county route that new signs brought to life.
CR 577 Spur once was a de jure designation, but the route was demoted de jure to Essex CR 677. This route is a continuation of Prospect Avenue, functioning to connect CR 508 to/from points west (Livingston) with CR 577 to/from points north (Verona, Montclair, Wayne). Most notably, this route serves as the eastern terminus of NJ 10, together with CR 577.

Essex County and NJDOT brought this route back to life by signing it, even though that's not what it is de jure.

The first sign for CR 577 Spur NB, right after the junction with CR 508.

CR 577 Spur is a short route.

Essex County, what's with the white JCT banner over a blue sign? I thought this was a Somerset County thing, and Somerset County stopped doing it on newer signs.

This should read END SPUR 577*, or JCT 577 / 10. The next sign is the JCT 577 sign.
*If Essex County was really true, this should be END 677 because this is Essex CR 677.

No. The prior sign should be JCT 577 / 10, and that should be a directional sign.

Why is NJ 10 an afterthought?
