I-294

 

A tolled bypass of Chicago. This is the longest auxiliary route of I-94, and this intersects 6 two-digit interstates, the most of a 3-digit interstate.

I-80/I-294:

This reminds me of New York's trends of massively filling out Interstate shield space with numbers.

Is it just me, or should Clearview not be used INSIDE route shields?

Yes, I-294 ends here. But no. I-94 does not begin here. This is one of my least favorite signing customs in Illinois: Signing at merges that a route falsely "begins" when another route truly ends.
