A short connector between I-465 and I-65 northwest of Indianapolis near Zionsville, entirely concurrent with US 52. No intermediate exits, and this is basically a ramp. So why the I-865 designation, as opposed to just treating this as a ramp? It's because this was part of the original I-465, before the western part of I-465 was built. When that was built parallel to the old IN 100 corridor, I-465 intersected itself, and this portion became known as "the dogleg" of I-465. It had mileposts in the 900 range. Eventually, to reduce confusion, INDOT turned the dogleg into I-865 (as opposed to I-665 to make it easier for 911 dispatchers).
Not much to take note of along I-865. All photos above are EB.
Something worth taking note of: how the US 52 overlap with I-465 is signed. Instead of signing US 52 along I-465, INDOT places signs at the entrance of each concurrent route to direct traffic to follow I-465 in a certain direction until a specific exit. Only I-74 (and eventually I-69) get co-signed along I-465 during their overlaps.
