A pretty straightforward route from Dover, NJ to Augusta, NJ. Only to find out it's not so straightforward when NJ 15 intersects US 46 twice because it has a stub section in Dover! It made sense back when NJ 15 passed under US 46 at the railroad bridge and had to cut through downtown Dover to intersect US 46. But now the intersection between mainline NJ 15 and US 46 has been moved with the reconstruction of US 46, leaving an unneeded stub section that can be returned to the town.
NJ 15 stub in Dover:
Photos from the stub section of NJ 15. That destination sign once had relevance for long-distance traffic, but now no long-distance traffic uses this intersection. And interestingly, when the mainline began here, NJ 15 northbound actually headed south for a block, making this one of the few areas where you can turn left from a westbound road (per direction) to head northbound (per signage), and where you can turn left from a southbound road (per signage) to head westbound (per direction). At this point, just take down the NJ 15 signs and return this to Dover.
As for the green destination sign, that is actually a replacement for this older, cast iron destination sign. That sign is now preserved as an exhibit in the Whippany Railway Museum.
NJ 15 mainline:
Now on the mainline of NJ 15.
In Jefferson Township, NJ 15 NB is more free-flowing and has less access to local businesses, while NJ 15 SB is where most local businesses are. This is because NJ 15 NB is the newer bypass roadway, while NJ 15 is the older roadway from when NJ 15 was a 2-lane highway for its entire length.
Closer to the northern end of NJ 15. This is Lafayette, NJ. NJ 15 has a wrong-way concurrency with NJ 94, then ends at US 206 and CR 565.
NJ 15 ends at this intersection with US 206 and CR 565.
