NJ 42 follows two major roadways for its alignment: the Black Horse Pike and the North-South Freeway.
Black Horse Pike:
NJ 42 begins at an intersection with US 322 and CR 536 Spur. US 322 departs the Black Horse Pike, and NJ 42 picks up.
North-South Freeway:
This sign has faded into near-obscurity, except for NJ 168.
Standard BGS, but non-standard ground-mounted sign.
Technically, Exit 7B connects to a bunch of new 700-series CRs (CR 761-766) that Camden County created, but they are all unsigned (except CR 762) and are very short. CR 673 is more logical.
Coles Road is Exit 9A, but why are there no signs for it until the gore?
Got it.
Exit 9B provides access to NJ 168 and the NJ Turnpike. NJ 42 does not have a direct interchange with the NJ Turnpike.
Exit 12 allows NJ 42 NB to access NJ 55 SB. The NB ramps connect directly to NJ 41, while the SB ramps connect directly to CR 544.
Ramp signage.
Okay. I-76 exit numbers are showing up already?
NJ 55 ends at NJ 42. Exit 13 SB connects to NJ 55 SB.
Exit 14A, the Missing Moves ramps, opened in November 2023. This access was never freeway-to-freeway until now.
Northbound, Exit 14B connects to Camden CR 753.
There is no Exit 14A southbound, so CR 753 is Exit 14 on NJ 42 SB.
The end of NJ 42 at I-295.
Bonus: Comical VMS signs.
