NJ 50 was originally a Native American trail known as the Shamong Trail that connected Crosswicks to Cape May. A segment of this trail would eventually be converted into a spur route of the 1909 Ocean Highway, linking Seaville to Egg Harbor City. This eventually became NJSHR 14 in the first state highway numbering system. In 1927, this became NJH 50 and retained this number as NJ 50 in the 1953 renumbering.
NJ 50 junctions CR 557 and starts a concurrency with it.
NJ 50 at the eastern terminus of NJ 49.
Now on an old alignment of NJ 50, Atlantic CR 611.
What is missing from this fixture?!
CR 557 departs from NJ 50.
This LGS is horrendous. CR 557 Truck has no reason to exist anymore because the weight-restricted bridge over the Beesley's Point Secondary on CR 557 was reconstructed to remove said restriction. This is just CR 637.
A historic house on NJ 50 in Estell Manor.
And immediately we strike gold. Bridge inscriptions at Stephen Creek for two 1926 bridges carrying NJSHR 14.
NJ 50 junctions US 40 and CR 559.
Can you at least put the county name on the shield?
NJ 50 at a diamond interchange with US 322.
NJ 50 at the Atlantic City Expressway.
NJ 50 ends at US 30 and CR 563. The road continues north as CR 563 all the way to NJ 72. I would have extended NJ 50 all the way along CR 563 to NJ 72.
