NY 495

NY 495 is the unsigned designation for the Lincoln Tunnel Expressway. This is also a remnant of I-495 in Manhattan because the Mid-Manhattan Expressway was never built.

Emerging from the center tube of the Lincoln Tunnel. Signs for DOWNTOWN are the continuation of the Lincoln Tunnel Expressway / NY 495.

Emerging from the south tube of the Lincoln Tunnel.

From the south tube, there is an at-grade intersection at 36th Street between the portal and the rest of NY 495.

The Lincoln Tunnel Expressway / NY 495 ends at Dyer Avenue and 30th Street.

A sign mounted above 10th Street on the High Line, a former freight rail line turned elevated park. This sign is a newer installation that incorrectly mentions I-495, even though I-495 ends at the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. I guess NY 495 doesn't need to be signed as such because people know I-495.

Heading west on NY 495.

Between the center and south tubes of the tunnel.

The portal of the center tube of the tunnel.

Now at the 40th Street entrance to the north tube.

Again, what is the Port Authority thinking mounting new I-495 shields along a route that is clearly not part of I-495!

The portal of the north tube.
