A historic US Highway, dating back to 1926. Once went from sea to shining sea, San Francisco to Atlantic City. But the western part of US 40 was replaced with I-80, so US 40 was cut back to Silver Summit, Utah. The eastern end in New Jersey remains intact, though. In New Jersey, US 40 is known primarily as either the Harding Highway or the Black Horse Pike.

US 40 (diagonal) has a six-way intersection in Buena.
US 40 in Mays Landing. The large brick building on the north side of US 40 is the historic Atlantic County Courthouse.
