This roadway is the FDR Drive of Chicago. Multilane highway parallel to a sizable body of water.
The northern terminus of I-55 at US 41.
Soldier Field as seen from US 41.
US 41 at the eastern edge of Millennium Park.
The historic Link Bridge. When this bridge was built, it was the longest and widest bascule bridge in the world.
Signs on the bridge. The lower level of the Link Bridge was added later when the junction with Wacker Drive was rebuilt.
This recognizable view of the John Hancock Tower comes at the S-curve of Lake Shore Drive.
US 41 departs from Lake Shore Drive at Foster Avenue. This is where US 41 originally was routed before Lake Shore Drive was built further north.
(...there's a way to make all of Lake Shore Drive US 41, just route US 41 on Hollywood, Ridge, and Peterson Avenues, then cut back US 14.)
The northern end of Lake Shore Drive at Sheridan Road and Hollywood Avenue. There were plans to extend Lake Shore Drive northwards to Evanston at the very least, or even as far as Milwaukee.
(...this segment ought to have a designation. IL 541, as suggested on alpsroads.net? Or US 41, if that route and US 14 can switch places between their two junctions?)
