Starting off with these signs for JFK PARKWAY, but the word PARKWAY is skewed. Here's why:
The route used to be called Kennedy Parkway, until Essex County or Livingston thought it would be better to specify which Kennedy. In this case, the most famous one, John F. Kennedy.
Trying to imitate NJDOT with the mileage and destination guide signs. But this is Essex County, so they could deviate a little by adding mi after the number of miles.
The JFK Parkway functions as an expressway with a section that is arguably freeway-lite. It even has a freeway-style interchange with Parsonage Hill Road, Essex CR 636.
That leads to I-280, not I-287! Essex County really messed that one up.
...technically, you can use I-280 to I-287, but most people are headed for 280!
CR 649 meets CR 510. After that, the route enters Livingston and picks up former CR 527 Spur (though unsigned, because CR 527 Spur doesn't exist anymore).
