I-295 in Delaware

I-295 is the final stretch of the Delaware Turnpike and is most notable for the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

I-295 starts at I-95.

Exit 5 is based on I-95 exit numbers.

Thanks to unnumbered exits, gore signs are huge.

US 40 joins I-295 here at an odd interchange with US 13.

Median crossovers can be used to divert traffic to the other span of the bridge.

The Delaware Memorial Bridge, the only fixed crossing* between New Jersey and Delaware.

*Yes, there is a land border between New Jersey and Delaware in Fort Mott thanks to a surveying quirk, but that section of Delaware is on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River and is not continuous with the main part of the state.

Thanks to a surveying quirk, the main spans of the Delaware Memorial Bridge are entirely in Delaware and I-295 doesn't reach New Jersey until the left/eastern bank of the Delaware River.
