Indiana State Road 26 crosses the state in a generally straight line from the Illinois border to the Ohio border. Well, except for something. There is a gap in the road because IN 26 through West Lafayette and Lafayette was deleted in 2013.
IN 26 western segment:
IN 26 starts as an eastern continuation of IL 9 at the Indiana-Illinois state line. IN 352 also starts here as a crossroad.
Harry's, one of the most historic bars in West Lafayette, is located along State Street / former IN 26.
The Main Street Bridge used to carry IN 26 between West Lafayette and Lafayette. The bridge still stands but was converted to a pedestrian bridge. IN 26 used First Street to connect to South Street and Columbia Street, but First Street was removed when new bridges were built. IN 26 was moved onto new bridges carrying South Street and Columbia Street until the designation was removed.

South Street becomes two-way at its junction with Columbia Street and Main Street. Main Street from South Street to Sagamore Parkway is the oldest alignment of US 52.
Former milepost 37.

At I-65, IN 26 resumes.
