A historic road in New Jersey, and portions of it from colonial (and pre-colonial) times are still preserved. Portions of NJ 27 started out as the Lenape Assunpink Trail before becoming the King's Highway and Queen Anne's Road. This would later become known as the Post Road. This later became part of the transcontinental Lincoln Highway and was part of the original NJ Route 1 / NJ Route 25 (the predecessor of US 1 and US 130). Much of NJ 27 still follows the same corridor as US 1.

NJ 27 at its southern terminus, US 206 (and unsigned CR 533).
Immediately after beginning, NJ 27 comes to the northern terminus of poorly-signed CR 583. There used to be a CR 583 sign from NJ 27 SB, but that disappeared together with the only directional sign for CR 583 SB.
The first distance sign on NJ 27.

NJ 27, Nassau Street, in downtown Princeton.
The FitzRandolph Gates, signifying the entrance to Princeton University, are located on NJ 27. Behind the gates is Nassau Hall, the main building of Princeton.

NJ 27 meets the northern / western terminus of
CR 571. CR 526 is signed to Princeton but does not officially begin here.
The historic King's Highway bridge in Kingston. This is the second oldest bridge still standing in New Jersey. The oldest is nearby, along US 206 near Princeton (and it's still being used by a major highway!) The bridge and old roadway serve as an old alignment of NJ 27's predecessors. The red building is the old Kingston Grist Mill.
Distance markings to Philadelphia and New York City on the midpoint of the old bridge.
Dating the bridge.
Old cast iron signs.
The old Lincoln Highway comes to the modern Lincoln Highway.
Now shifting to the modern bridge.
Yes, this sign is modern. But it's still old.
