Between Lafayette and Indianapolis, US 52 used the titular Lafayette Road. The road is called Indianapolis Road in Boone County and Lafayette Road in Marion County, yet are one and the same.
Boone County:
Lebanon Bypass stub:
This is the original tie-in with the Lebanon Bypass. The bypass was built initially as an alignment of US 52 before the bypass was integrated directly into I-65. I-65 was built with a different alignment heading northwest, necessitating an interchange (Interchange 141) between US 52 and I-65, leaving a short stub behind.
Interchange 141 will be replaced with Interchange 143 at proposed CR 325 North as part of the LEAP development northwest of Lebanon, resulting in more of the original Lafayette Road being abandoned.
See the perfect tie-in to I-65? This is where US 52 tied in with the Lebanon Bypass.
Now to the westbound lanes.
